Bhubaneswar, April 7: Odisha government on Tuesday said that it will supervise the last rites of the persons dying due to COVID 19 infection to thwart any chances of spread of the global pandemic at this crucial time.
The government cited a recent directive from the Union government into this direction which laid out rules how to conduct last rites of persons who die from COVID infections. The state government claimed that as per the norms the last rites of persons dying due to COVID 19 infection will be done under the supervision of the state government as per rules framed by the Union government.
The Union government had issued directives for conducting the last rites of the persons die due to COVID 19 infection. The 72-year-old deceased died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar. The hospital after conducting their procedure as per the norms will now hand over the dead body to the state government.
“The state government will ensure the last rights are conducted under the supervision of the state government. The last rites of persons dying due to COVID 19 infections will be done completely under the directives of the Union government,” Subroto Bagchi, CHief Spokesperson of the government on COVID 19 said.
